In 2014, Liberty Rock was created to build a retaining wall company that specializes in being the absolute best in quality as well as in customer service. Our goal is to leave the customer AMAZED with the creativity and superior craftsmanship of our retaining walls.
Joe and Brent Stoddard, two cousins, joined forces to build a rock retaining wall company that would deliver top quality walls for customers along the Wasatch Front. Though the company is young, both Joe and Brent each have been in the retaining wall industry for over 25 years.
Brent, formerly of JP&R Rock Walls, has built literally thousands of rock retaining walls in Utah, Salt Lake, Heber and Park City valleys. There is no project too complex or difficult for him. Brent has a personal relationship with many of the high end builders in the area.
Joe, also highly experienced in building retaining walls, brought the capability of mining boulders to the business. At Liberty Rock, we mine our own boulders to remove the middle man that most excavators and rock stackers use to obtain boulders for their projects. By having our own source of boulders, the customer saves money and time by not having to pay extra for unneeded rock.
At Liberty Rock, honesty with our customers is as important to us as the quality of the work we do. We strive to be upfront and honest about what to expect and our timeframe. There are many who appreciate a contractor who is honest about when we will show up and complete their project. Also, we want our customers to know that they are receiving the best quality of work while paying a fair market price for the work completed.

Brent Stoddard
Owner/partner
Brent grew up helping his father in Idaho build the family’s excavation business. He learned the values of hard work and integrity.
He holds a civil engineering degree from Brigham Young University. Brent is also married and has three wonderful children. When he has a free moment, he enjoys working on his old classic Chevy Chevelle.
Joe Stoddard
Owner/partner
Joe really loves building retaining walls. It’s a dream job to him because he gets to “play in the dirt” everyday.
Joe is married and has five girls and a boy. His girls have a special place in his heart and his son is his best friend, often working by his side. In Joe’s free time he enjoys camping and wake surfing with his wife and kids.
